Dept. of Victory Is Mine!

Baking and Re-Potting and Ticking Things Off Lists

In this world there are two kinds of people; those who write lists, and those who don't.* I'm a list-writing kind of gal. I cannot, however,  tell you how long it has been since I put together a list, and completed everything on it in one day. Today?

*We pause here briefly, while she does a dance of hubristic glee*

Dirty shower curtain cover cleaned? Check.
Bread baked? Check.
Mom talked to? Check, (and a lovely chat it was; she's regained a lot of her sight with recent surgery, and it's brightened her mood considerably.)
Brother talked to? Unexpected, but lovely, and ... Check.
Laundry done? Check.
Plants - poor, off-balance, pot-bound, plants - re-potted and cared for as I should have done Too Damned Long Ago? Check! Yessssss!!!!!
And one last thing ... writing. Getting more done on my last help_haiti fic.
Well, a few more sentences, at least. That's got to count for something, right? And I'm going to be writing more before I go to bed. So, it's good, I think.

So, I'm going to call this day a success.

*Actually, that's such a stupid trope, but I'm too lazy, at the end of a busy day, to think of a better opening line.

Ohhh, she makes lists!!! I can't function without a to-do list, even if I don't get it all to-done. Everything I don't finish gets carried over to the next day's list. Eventually I do it just so I don't have to write it down again. Finishing a whole day's list is a fine accomplishment--congrats. 8)

Doing things just to ensure that you don't have to write them down yet again? Check. Definitely check. Heh.

I looked at what I'd written here and realized I had forgotten to put something else down; I put things back into our furnace niche that had been out of place for about two months, and which had been mucking up our back porch area. And that was one of the things about which I was most pleased.

My dad's a firm believer of adding one or even two items to his lists that he's already completed so he can start off with check marks already added.

Heh. I understand that tactic perfectly. I've done it myself.

Good news about your mom! And it definitely seems like the day was a success.

I have several lists made, for different things. And I use different pen colors to codify what the pieces are.

You're far more organized than I am, although I do admit to using color coding on stories that I'm editing for people; that way they, and I, can identify the general nature of my comment: good stuff/slight redo necessary/structural problem here, and so forth.
