Questionable Kwizeen

One supposes dried rhino brains would be nastier...
In humanity's long and twisted history, one of our greatest triumphs is that we have learned that we can eat anything - anything - in a pinch. This does not, however, mean we should. I offer, thanks to a link from the intrepid erikvolson, this expansion on my thesis.

I think my response to that can be summed up in a great word that I learned from "Harry Potter": Eurgh!

My reaction was a sort of *ook* - the sound you make before you clap your hand to your mouth to prevent disgorging the current contents of your stomach.

Did you read the label? The best part of the whole thing is the "nutrition" info.

Oh, yeah. When I showed that to Bob, that was when he started laughing helplessly. With a sort of horror.

"[W]e can eat anything - anything - in a pinch."

Insufflation? Don't you mean "snort anything"?

Ewww. Nausea again. Sorry.

Yes, I can just see French aristos taking out their snuff boxes, looking inside, and deciding on discretion...

We've got a strictly decorative can of the stuff on the kitchen shelf, brought back by LSR from one of her trips to visit relatives in the South. She won't touch the stuff, either, but she loves the reaction she gets when people see it sitting there, nd she grew up seeing it in stores.

Moon pies and boiled green peanuts are much better bets when dealing with Southern treats. ;)

And pecan pie, don't forget pecan pie! (Or Jeff Davis pie, for that matter.)

Yeah, true -- those are pretty yummy. One can politely ignore the pork brains if one takes pecan pie into account. ;)

I wonder where in the South that's available. I need to look for it. Craziness.

You know what's crazier? It's apparently available on some shelves here in the great city of Chicago. I may go looking for it.

Because I'm that kind of girl.

That is just amazing and disgusting. Wow! 1170% of you day's cholesterol intake. Yuck. And sodium was pretty high too - I didn't see the percentage but it was 550 mg. Which is high. Why even bother?

Because we should live dangerously? No?
