Dept. of Victory is Mine!

fandom_stocking Success!

I've done it! The last story I wanted to get done and in place before the Big Reveal starts is done!

Seven stories, ranging from just about double-drabble length to just under 1,800, nearly all of them like pulling damned hens' teeth because my brain is resistant to writing these days. And all eminently satisfying to complete!

(I also provided one miscellaneous not-fic stocking stuffer. Now, if I can just complete the second not-fic stuffer, I'll have reached my complete goal ... but even if I don't, I can rest easy, knowing I did my best.)

Yay you! What a lovely thing to do for people for Christmas. And at least they've kept the writing brain ticking over a bit.

I am tempted to try that out myself next year - I shun the official Yuletide like the plague, because my energy levels are never high in November/December, I tend to be ill, and the runup to Christmas is always a real slog; but picking up completely optional prompts without any pressure, if/when they inspired, might be something I could do.

I still can't figure Yuletide out, frankly, being a bear of very little brain; I fell into fandom_stocking by accident, and loved the very flexible, optional nature of it. Perhaps as a result, I ended up doing more this year than I did when I took part for the first time last year - you know, a case of "Wow, since it's not expected of me, I'd just love to surprise myself and increase the pressie-giving!"

I think that's exactly it - once I had committed to do something, it would become a chore and a source of stress; whereas if it was optional and no guilt attached, I'd paradoxically be more likely to do something. Will consider for next year!

How awesome! I have stuffed three stockings, two with fic, one with a meme-picture. I really wanted to do more but for me lately that is a lot of output, so I feel pretty good. Reveal isn't until the 6th so I hope to do a couple of picspams tonight. :)

As I mentioned to azalaisdep the wonderful thing about this is that it's voluntary. Good luck!

Good for you! I've pushed myself hard this week as well - due to having decided to *knit* several people Christmas presents, I couldn't start before then - and as of last night have left ten gifts: one drabble, one quintuple drabble, and (much to my amazement) the remainder are all between 1000 and almost 3000 words.

Now, if I could get another 1-3 done today - most likely shorter - for the rest of the people on my flist I have most interaction with I'd be very happy.

You realize, of course, that I'm thoroughly in awe of your count!

:)

Currently working on my twelfth, but I still have a couple of people I really wanted to write something for and haven't!

Congrats. I'm concentrating on getting rid of stuff, I probably should have purge two years ago.

What kind of stuff are you purging? Not fic, I hope! (Or are we talking about stories that are safely archived somewhere else?)

oh No. Just the stuff you need shred, that no longer is current.

This contains much utter nonsense from my disadvantaged viewpoint. ("Big Reveal" "double-drabble" "one miscellaneous not-fic stocking stuffer".) BUT! I have grasped that it is something about Dr. Who and writing stories and you like it, so I think you're wonderful and carry on.

Say not "utter nonsense" ... say, instead, "sub-genre language," or "niche fandom jargon," for such and so it is! I began learning it back in 2005, and now I'm so used to the terminology that I sometimes forget that not everyone knows the idiom.

And yes indeed, I shall carry on. As shall you, undoubtedly gloriously.

I am in awe. Holy Wah. When will these be posted on Teaspoon?

It actually got to a count of nine, counting one DW sonnet; one story, "The Way of Some Days", is already up over at my AO3 account. I'll post the others here, and over at Teaspoon, probably next weekend.
