You need a goat, love. See if you can find a goat god to sacrifice to.

Ah, the goat, the poor goat! There have been a couple of goats paraded through Wrigleyville in the last week or so, but I don't know if they'll effect much luck. I'm still hoping, though!

I'm just glad they're not dead yet. After the win, 538.com upped their chances of winning the series from 15% (before game 5) to 23%.

One of my colleagues dipped into their savings in order to be at last night's game. They acknowledged that they shouldn't have done it, but they needed to. I think that expresses the feeling of a lot of people whose hearts have been broken again and again by the Cubs. They still love them, almost to distraction.

Buy and wear a cowboy hat.

This will distract the Indians.

*snerk*

We do have a cowboy hat around the house. And since I find Chief Wahoo completely obnoxious, anything that distracts him and his team would make me happy.

OMG, has it gone all the way to game 7? Between jury duty and the most recent election fuckery, I've scarcely been paying attention to sports, even to my beloved figure skating. : (

I don't know what to recommend, apart from praying a lot, to the deity(ies) of your choice.

You should have seen me when Meryl Davis & Charlie White were skating for the gold medal in Sochi. They were heavily favored and I was still a freaking basket case. I usually worry less about "my" swimmers, because they have multiple events, but for Meryl & Charlie, Sochi was really "it." If I were a nail-biter, my fingernails would've been down to the quick. I don't think I exhaled until they had the damned gold medals around their necks.

Which is all a long-winded way of saying HUGS. I feel your pain. : D

No - we just forced a Game 6, to be held in Cleveland Tuesday. If we can win that, we'll have forced a Game 7. But we just need to focus on Tuesday night, first. Gah.

Thanks for the hugs (long-winded or not!) I really need them this week!

My none of the above answer: Play Steve Goodman, Pearl Jam, and other Cubs-friendly musicians in glorious excess.

’Cause music magic really is that strong. Especially when performed by a musician.

All The Way sung by Eddie Vedder, with Ernie Banks joining in at the end.

I like the way you think! Thanks for including the Vedder song. I've had Steve Goodman's songs in my head for the last couple of weeks; now I have something else to sing!

Hugs right back, my dear - it amused me to do it and lightened the World Series dread hanging around my shoulders.
