Adulting Is Haaaaaard

And I'm 61.

Also, writing is getting less hard.

But I'm still 61.

Faced with further contemplation of all those facts, I am going to bed.

Bonus comment. I have new slippers, about which I am overwhelmingly excited.

See previous comments about being 61.

ETA: Augh. I should have made it clear that yesterday was not my birthday, which was back last September. I was just whining about being old. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes, they will make my 62nd birthday, eight months or so from now, extra nice.

Dude. New slippers are exciting no matter WHAT age.

And I'm glad to hear writing is getting easier. Though I'm dismayed that adulting doesn't. Dammit.

Slippers, yaaaaaayyyy!!!

I was saying over on DW that I had been whining about it when I stopped and realized that I'd been an adult, technically at least, for 40 years. What right did I have to whinge? Ah, well.

And yes, writing has gotten a tad easier.

*hugs back*

Happy birthday! Regardless of the progression of ages, I hope it was a good one. Slippers are good for sure.

Heh ... in my edit I mention that it isn't my birthday, which is actually in September, so I'll be 62 this coming September. I just made my message unclear. I'll save your wishes for next September, when they will be extra nice.

Ah, oops! I misread the "and" part, not as a continuation of your title but more like "aaaaaand". No need for me to accelerate those birthdays ;)

That was an easy misread to make, given that I didn't make myself too clear.

Was it for this I uttered prayers,
And sobbed, and cursed, and kicked the stairs,
That now, domestic as a plate,
I should retire at half-past eight?

Oh. My. That's perfect. Utterly perfect.

Thank you!

One of my favorite poems, along with:

"Safe upon the solid rock the ugly houses stand;
Come and see my shining castle built upon the sand!"

She really had a way with words.

I remember Edna St. Vincent Millay from school, but I haven't read her since then. I like the excerpts you gave me here, so I should look more of her up.

Happy birthday, still! A good part of age is in the mind, and your mind is quicker, more open and more brilliant than that of a great many youngsters I know ;) (Though I understand the body reminds one of less pleasant aspects! My mother gets that a lot ;))

Thank you for the very kind words! It's actually not my birthday (which I said in an edit to this post); I was just really unclear that I was simply meditating on my age and feeling it rather more than usual.

And yes, one's body does indeed remind one - occasionally with a crowbar.

Re: A Very Merry Unbirthday to You
Heh - very British musical hall, which was a little bit brilliant of Disney to use in that case.

And yes, I believe I should celebrate all 364 of my Unbirthdays on a regular basis.
