Memes, so many memes.

Wall Eyed

I ganked this meme from jlrpuck . Finally. After everyone else in the universe already had fun with it. Congratulations, jlrpuck - you finally convinced me to do it, too, with your eloquent ... uh ... eloquence. Yeah, that's it. Thanks!
  1. Anyone who looks at this entry has to can post this meme and their current wallpaper at their livejournal.
  2. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!
  3. Explain in five sentences or less why you are using that wallpaper.

Here she is: I don't know who may first have created this beauty, an imaginative enlargement on Claude Monet's "Garden Parth at Giverney," although I credit someone called fanbot,* from whom I originally ganked it.  It's gorgeous in concept (of course one of the Doctors would have loved this place, and perhaps talked to Monet about light and perception); it's gorgeous in application, too - while it's not a perfect fit, (the shadows on the TARDIS door are lovely and lovingly done but too obviously just computer extrapolations of the shadows behind and beyond it on the path) it's as close as need be. It's Monet's genius that makes me feel as if I could walk into the mid-afternoon sun and sleepy scented air of that garden. It's fanbot's introduction of the Whoniverse that makes me think the garden could take me anywhere. I normally change my wallpaper every second day or so, because I have about 1,000 or so to play with (mostly, but not all by any extent, motivators from TWoP), but this** has been up for several days because it's gorgeous.

* If any of y'all out there know the proper provenance of this, let me know, and I'll properly credit.
**Also, it's not properly a wallpaper, since I simply grabbed this from my icon folder. It was obviously bigger on the inside.

Oh, that *is* lovely--and it's fanart I've never seen before!

I'd run across a manip using a piece by Andrew Wyeth, the one called "Christina's World" - the painting with the girl half seated, half lying, in a grain field, looking at a house up a small rise from her. In the manip, it's the TARDIS she's looking at. I thought that was marvelous. Shortly thereafter, I ran across the TARDIS at Giverney, and couldn't resist it. I'll bet there are a few more manips of famous paintings with the TARDIS in them. I should start Googling for them ....

I don't have wallpaper, but I'm impressed by your taste in music. That's one of my favourite CDs. I grinned my head off when it showed up on the soundtrack of "Men With Brooms."

Whoah! "Men With Brooms" is one of my favorite movies! We had a copy, and then my beloved First Born loaned it to someone, and he can't remember who. I'll be getting a new one soon.

Yeah, I really like "Racket in the Attic," especially Queen of Argyle and Rattling Roaring Willie. And heck, they're probably distant relations of mine, so I figure I have to support the family. Heh.

Argh. I saw the original come up on one of the fanart comms, and know I commented to the artist. But I'm not sure I can find it again . . . I'll try. They were very nice, and definitely deserve credit . . .

If you find out, let me know. You're absolutely right about credit. I get paranoid about not crediting people.
