A Plurality of None
Ganked from the lovely honorh:

LogoThere are
or fewer people with my name in the U.S.A.
How many have your name?

Caught between loving my unique status, and feeling like the lone deer in the cow pasture during hunting season.

How about I ask the Doctor to come by and paint dots on you so you look like a cow? Think that would help? Revel in your uniqueness!

* There are 6,168 people in the U.S. with the first name Marilee.
* Statistically the 2397th most popular first name.
* More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Marilee are female.

I would have said there were hundreds, not thousands. Now I'm wondering if younger women have the name. When I first started looking online, we were all within five years of the same age.

How did you find out the age spread initially?

Your first name is still pretty unusual. It's far more unusual than my first name, which is shared with almost 361,000 other people. On the other hand, there are only 114 people in the U.S. with my last name, which is why I assume I hit the magic #1.

This was in the very beginning of the web and I just searched and emailed. People could do things like that back then without others getting upset; I wouldn't dare do it now.

Yeah, things have changed now. You'd probably be slapped with a restraining order.

You aren't the only one sitting alone in the middle of the road:

There are fewer than 1,542 people in the U.S. with my first name. Apparently.

Does it make you want to go back to the parents and ask what led them to go with that particular first name? My mom didn't want to name me Kate, which is what my Dad wanted to name me; my final name was a compromise. Speaking of my mom, she had a rather unusual first name, it came up in the 1500 range, too; oddly enough, so did my brother's first name. I got the more common first name.

Oh, I know how my name came about: my parents couldn't agree which name they like more so they bought a hyphen and smushed them together into a new one.

Heh. It's a good thing the language is tough enough to take what we do to it.

Without checking I know there is one fellow with the same name as me in the USA. He is also about the same age as me which is even wierder.
