Yes, I Know Fast Food isn't, Generally, Either ...
... but seeing the extreme satisfaction on Bob's face as he (very carefully) consumed a Wendy's burger and fries - food he actually had to chew - was one of the high points of my day.

Thanks! I'm tickled, myself.

Hey, the sheer joy must be more than healthy enough to counteract a little slowly eaten fast food :)

It's amazing what we take for granted until moments like this...

Oh, aye, even though he's supposed to avoid fried potatoes as a rule for the next week or so, he decided that eating a small order of them was good for his soul, enough that it cancelled out the "bad for his heart" bit.

Hurrah! And at least having to spend ages chewing means he savoured it fully...

There's always a silver lining, isn't there?

:D Ah, bless. I hope all goes well and there's more wholesome food on the horizon!

We've just spent the last 15 minutes narrowing down his choice of snack foods for the near future. Unfortunately, raw veggies are right off the list, although a lot of raw fruit is OK, as long as the skin's off. Too many uncooked vegetables cause fiber and gas problems (TMI, I know), and potato chips are Right. Out. (Fried, with edges. Bad.) We'll figure stuff out, though, I know. Thanks!

I am happy for him though I wish there were a better burger joint in your neighbourhood though I do think Wendy's is better than some other popular choices.

He was initially thinking of McDonalds fries, so we at least steered clear of the Truly Awful Place. (I myself am addicted to McChicken sandwiches, I most shamefacedly admit.)

I always order mine with no cheese, no mayo, and extra lettuce.

Aha! A Wendy's fan! I like their frosties, myself.

(No cheese? Heresy!)

*And the crowd goes wild!!!!*

Oh, that *is* good news. Glad for both of you! :)

Thanks! (I also have to tell you that every time I see your icon, I grin. I love Futurama!)

Futurama is all kinds of fun. I especially love that it's SF humor written by people who *understand science fiction.* :)

Yes - you put your finger on it. I hate it when people who don't know the first thing about any part of the genre, printed or live media, start making cheap jokes at our expense. But somehow, making jokes are our own expense really is different, because there's a sense of love and respect there that is completely missing in the former case.

My mom was very excited when she got to go from fluids to Jello, post-surgery. She was bemused by how thrilling a bowl of Jello could be, but it's perfectly understandable that it would be.

I've been reading The Fat Nutritionist a bunch-- http://www.fatnutritionist.com/ --she's awesome, and one of the things she talks about is that there is _no_ junk food. If the only thing you can keep down, or face eating, is fries, fine!, it's an excellent start. Bob is already doing better than a lot of the patients she sees, some of whom have trouble even eating enough to help absorb their meds.

I'm delighted to hear he's enjoying his food, that's the best news I've had in a while.

Thanks for the good wishes, and the fascinating link.

How are you doing?

*Accepts hugs and passes them on to Bob*

Yay for Bob! That's a good step up!

Oh, aye - we're tickled. He's asked me to make meat loaf next. Oh, the excitment of masticatable food (is masticatable a word? Let's pretend it is, shall we?)
