I've become so used to having to take two of my four weeks of vacation as unpaid (a deal we made with the new company owners two years ago in order to help save the company ... so far, so good ... and which continues for another couple of years) that, over the last year or so I've almost forgotten to take my two paid weeks each year. This happened again this year. I finally remembered that I had the PV, put in for one week of it, and am about to enjoy it all next week. Woo-hoo!
I'll say one thing for having decreased benefits; it makes you really really appreciate the benefits that remain. That's the tiniest of silver linings, obviously; it's an unfair and rotten situation overall. Still, even a tiny silver lining is a silver lining.
The week will, I hope, be spent doing a final cleaning of FB's ex bedroom, and starting to move our office things in. It goes without saying that I'm praying to Murphy to pass over and spare me over the next few days.
