Dept. of I Do, In Fact, Love My Job

My life is meetings! I live for meetings! They are a science and an art! They are ... comparable to the laws of physics.

Because, yeah, you can't avoid them. You can't escape them.

Meetings - the blackhole of the corporate world without a singularity to save you. They are the anti-thesis of balance.

Luckily, these are meetings I have to cover, not meetings in which I must participate.

Although they have their own challenges (like beating back the desire to stand up and yell "First World Problems! First World Probems! First Fucking World Problems, You Entitled Lackwits!") they also are a chance to watch grass roots democracy in action; ordinary people working as best they can to solve local problems, and craft the policies needed to do that, and the regulations needed to enact the policies in a reasonable way, for the good of the community in which they live. When they're not being annoying, it really kind of enthralls and thrills me.

Also? ICON LOVE!!!!

This really resonated with me, because I've covered meetings for government bodies (towns, villages, school boards, park boards, etc.) that were as small as the ones he photographed, and I can even imagine that the meetings were very similar, judging by the meeting minutes included under the pictures. Thanks for the link!

Sometimes universes rise and fall upon a good meeting...other times they kinda ooze around to where they are suppose to be. Yay for good ones!!

The good ones are worth all the eye-rolling and boredom and anger, even if I sometimes only appreciate that intellectually.

And feel free to gank the icon, crediting sallymn!
