I Have a SRS BZNS Post About Day of The Doctor. This Isn't It

Nope. This one is to show you my first ever actual attempt to cosplay, which I did when I went to see Day of The Doctor in the theater with BB, FB and FB's girlfriend. (It's also to show you a pic of all three of us after we saw the special.)

I cosplayed Femme!Nine because I had the necessities close to hand (I had to dye the tee shirt purple, but it turned out very well) and because I love Nine. It isn't very accurate, but it was a lot of fun.

I'm glad we look fantastic - great word, fantastic! Heh.

Oooh- nice! Great femme!Nine costume! :D

Thanks - it is truly the first time I've ever really cosplayed.

Wait - I misspeak myself. Years ago, before you were born, I cosplayed Fiona, one of the Four Princesses of Zelazny's Amber. But I didn't really know it was cosplaying then. Although I did buy a long red wig to do it. Wow, I'd forgotten all about that - and about the long black hooded cloak I made and wore as some sort of unspecific hall costume.

Well then, I guess you could say this is my return to cosplaying, then. Heh.

I love your costume! It works really well. Also, points to your FB for wearing a Tom Baker scarf.

The scarf's mine, but I told him he could wear it; we also hunted up the hat off our hat rack, as the closest thing we had to Four-ish hat.

He's such a Who fan - he and I geek out completely, and BB geeks out with us oh, about 75-80 percent. BB's a hard-core Four fan, so it was a very big thing for him to say that Eleven has joined Four as his favorite Doctor.

Looking good.

I didn't know BB had a beard these days. He would make a great Santa.

As it happens, Bob's growing the beard because of Santa. As in, it's a great time to look like one of the finer saints in the line-up of saints.

It was simply a fantastic day - just amazing. And to have people I loved enjoy it with me? That made it even better.

And yes, you make a very good Nine. Loved how you did that at WisCon, too. I don't think you even realized you did it, lol!!

Wow - no, I had absolutely no idea I was doing that - but since I tend to wear a lot of black, including black jeans, it makes sense. Heh.

It was a lot of fun to dress up and be part of my tribe. Even though I was working, it was fun. At first, a freelance videographer/reporter did a piece on us going to the show, and she was sweet, but very intrusive, and didn't know much about the show - but she left when the show started, and I just got some quotes from people afterward, talking about what they thought of the show. It was great to do a story within, as I say, my tribe.

Wonderful. You all look great, and like you're having a fantastic time (of course).

It was an amazing day - I had been looking forward to it after some long hard times, and I was well repaid. Tears and laughter and everything in between.

I love it! :)
Nov. 25th, 2013 04:24 am (UTC)

Glad you did!

Look at all these smart dressed folks having a grand day out at the cinema. ;D

Your fem!Nine is very nice indeed. I think my favourite part about it is that it works as a nerd costume, but it's subtle and stylish enough for everyday.

Thank you! I actually wore it out to a pre-Thanksgiving get-together today, and it worked just as you said; a lot of non-geeks in the room and no one asked if I was going to a costume party. Heh.

And didn't I have a lovely group to enjoy the day with?

Super cute!!

You look fantastic! I love the "short skirt long jacket" look, all in leather. And the scarf is also superb!
Nov. 26th, 2013 05:37 am (UTC)
Thanks! Heh - I always thought Nine was rather stylish, but I suspect he'd have been horrified at being called that.

Hello - I love this piece and the video. I was too dazed after collecting people and driving them out to organise any serious pictures of the screening in Oxford which I went to. Our group had booked tickets for the out-of-town cinema which released tickets first; we didn't know that one of the city centre screens would be showing it too until after the event was organised, and being one of three taking non-motorized, non-bicycled students in their cars while other people travelled in a bicycle convoy was a co-ordination issue! I'm glad you were in charge of this piece of reporting - there were some mainstream media reports on the anniversary which were a bit lost and fell back on old cliches. (One friend represented fandom on local radio, but they had difficulty believing she was a 'proper' fan at first because she was a woman...)

Thanks - I'm glad you thought the story worked; I had to work hard to balance my fangirl love with the knowledge that a lot of people wouldn't understand what I was talking about. And at least one of the reasons I did it was to provide something that wasn't done from complete ignorance, as could have been the case if someone else did it.

Argh. Another cliche, eh?
