Dept. of Wake the Frak Up

For Your Monday Morning Listening Pleasure

For various skewed powers of pleasure, I suppose, but I found it an excellent way to start the week.

They had a gorgeous soundtrack...

Oh lord, didn't they just!

McCreary is doing the soundtrack for a new show, Outlander. It's based off a really great series, I'm hoping the show will be just as good, and Ron Moore is showrunner. I'm hoping maybe we can get a Tyrol callback since it's set in Scotland.

Is that based on the Gabaldon series? I haven't read her stories, but some people I know like them.

McCreary also did the music for a pirate show (maybe web-based?) I haven't seen that show, and don't know if it was even renewed, but I watched YouTube mini-documentaries on how he and his musicians put together the music for it, and it was fascinating to watch the musical creative process.

I love McCreary's stuff, and of course, I love Ron Moore; they're a bit of a winning combination. And Chief? Any call back to the Chief would be very welcome!

It is, and an excellent escape read. I am concerned that it's airing on Starz, and Spartacus was basically porn with plot, so I'm hoping the show will be clean enough for my mother to watch, haha.

Yeah, because you can't use the Spartacus excuse: "It's ... uh ... historical. Yeah. That's the ticket ...." Heh.

So apparently Starz has the first episode available online for everyone, even non-subscribers. Watched the first episode last night, it was quite good, and the Scottish landscape was beautiful.

Oho; the first one's free, eh? Still, it's good to know the show started out well, at least.

Love the song! Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad you liked it! I don't know if you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica or not; I am, and for me McCreary's music was an integral part of the show. (Ask any fan about "the poundy drums" and they'll know what you mean. Heh.) The first time I heard this song on the show, I wondered whether he could pull off a Dylan cover as part of an imagined world - and by the end of the song, I knew he'd nailed it. And this song is something that helps rev me up on days when my energy level is next to nil.

ETA: Your icon is great! :p

Nope, I haven't seen it—really liked the music though. Sometimes it's really part of the material because it's both so good and blending in so perfectly…

Thanks! :D *loves all the icons*
