Time away

Hibernation, Re-animation
It's a funny old thing, life is. You have your burn-out, and your stomach flu, and your work, and your burn-out, and your spring days, and your burn-out, and your attempts to get things done that you long have avoided with a feverish determination.

Oh, and your burn-out.

Your frontal lobes whimper themselves into uneasy sleep, your middle and hind end brains leap into entirely unsatifactory action in the breach, and the only thing you want to do on the computer is play endless games of solitaire - especially the ones with the neat sound effects that make it feel like you're actually thwapping cards down on the table.

You don't want to write letters, communicate in email, chat on your favorite boards, or post stuff, for it would entail awakening those frontal lobes. Ooo, let's not do that, says the middling brain, whilst the hindmost brain does whatever lizards do when caught in a particularly nice beam of sunshine. Back to the solitaire. Oops, time for bed, and then oops, time to go to work. What...communicate? Ooo...solitaire!

But eventually...eventually, I say, one does have to wake up. And it's really quite invigorating.

Hi! What's up?

Still plugging along here. Kids are dreaming of vacation... very similar to my nightmares.

Everyone has the virus including my mom so we have 2 recovering, 2 currently ill and 1 who can't make up his mind. I am a recovering but I still snuck in an extra 3.5 hours sleep while the kids were at school.

Playing a lot of Lord of the Rings Online as it doesn't require a lot of brain cells or commitment.

I keep waiting for season 5 Corner Gas on DVD but I don't expect to see it till the fall. I need to rent Caddyshack.. I think the boys are old enough but I am still not sure if they are ready for Master and Commander.

I'm sorry the viruses are still bushwhacking your family. God, it's awful; I always forget how bad GI tract stuff is until it hits me again. I take it Lord of the Rings Online is a game? *makes warding signs against yet one more timesuck*

Master and Commander the movie, or the series of novels? I liked the movie, and I enjoyed the three or four novels I read. Cool stuff.

It is nice you are back in the land of the wakeful.

The M&C books are still a bit advanced for the boys. I am currently rereading them for the umpteenth time.

The virus is not a GI tract thing. It is all sinuses, ears and throat and probably, but ghu forbid, chest. The wife has collapsed atm. I will need to get her up to phone into work. I would do it but think how it would sound from the other end...

"whisper.. hiss whisper"

hello?!?! hello!!?!

"whisper.. hiss... hish whisper"

Who is this? Quit phoning or I will call the Police!!!

Oh, you're right, I remember now - you had that horrible throat sloughing thing. How is your poor esophagus these days?

very quiet.

Remember Dorothy Heydt from rasff? She was a major beta tester for LotR Online and is now some kind of big deal volunteer monitor.

Yes, that name is familiar to me. Man, I haven't been on rasff for years. It got kind of flamey there for awhile, at a point where I wasn't emotionally capable of watching the bonfires, and I retreated elsewhere.

I understand the state of mind. I've been there for the past semester.

Unfortunately, I haven't woken up yet. *_*

Keep on swimming, you'll wake up soon!

dammit, it's SPRING
When you can handle a pizza, give me a ring.
I can head down Ridge with a couple of those Alberto's coupons that seem to accumulate like fall leaves.

They do, don't they? Thanks for the invite, and we'll call you soon!

So, let me guess, because you were rather vague on the subject, you were feeling rather burned out? Again, I'm just being presumptuous here.

I have to remember that burn-out can sometimes burn off what we don't need.

Shiva is afraid of me because I'm giving him amoxicillin drops orally. Two more doses, and we're done, which is good because he has incidentally scratched and bruised me in the process of trying to get away. His mouth looks fine now and he's gained all his weight back, so I hope the vet doesn't think he needs another week's worth!

I seem to need more sleep than usual, which has been a problem this week. I may sleep late Sunday.

I'm glad to hear that Shiva's doing better. You have a great deal of patience to doctor him. In the past, trying to doctor any of our kitties has been a great travail for me and BB, even when we try to coordinate our efforts.

Hope you get some sleep!
