Hubris be Damned, It's Time to Be Giddy

Friday, for the first time in almost three weeks, I had a hot shower in my own home.

To say that I was giddy is an understatement.

Another building resident, in tandem with the treasurer, took care of keeping people apprised of the latest phase of Team Incompetent's fixit efforts. BB made it his mission to inform TI that they were, in part, the reason for me being sick and that the fixit should happen sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, I went to my second doctor's appointment, to my internist (saw the awesome rheumatologist Thursday); the upshot is that both doctors agree that I should start physical therapy for my back, and take up swimming or yoga for my body and my brain. I used to laugh at that sort of thing. Now I'm going to make a good stab at letting both help me.

Right now, my body is still giving me a little grief (another mouth problem, plus inflammation in my ear and throat, but I'm back on the meds I took before to get rid of the mouth problems. And I'm happy to have hot water. (Mind you, the hottest water awaits, since TI is bringing in a second high-temperature thermostat for the second heater they installed.)

Hot water. MMMMmmmmmm.

That is good to hear - I certainly understand about things not being technically better and feeling better nonetheless.

Yes indeed, and even as I write this reply, TI is installing the last high temperature thermostat control board. Then, with luck, I may never have to see them again! Another w00t!!1!

I would be oh, so happy, were that to be the case. We shall see, she said, eyeing the skies suspiciously.

Yup - I'm about to buy a $40 three-month Chicago Park District lap swim pass. There are pools with slow lanes, so that I could breast-stroke my way through at least 3 and maybe 4 laps to begin with (yeah, I'm that out of shape.)

Woo! Hot water:)

Pilates is good if you think yoga will be too hardcore. When I did it, it was the only time of the week I was standing correctly.

First, I'm heading out tomorrow for a physical therapy evaluation. I have a follow-up next Tuesday, and once we get some kind of idea what the PT will entail, then I'll be looking at whatever kind of exercise the PT people suggest. In the meantime, I'm also going to get a Chicago Park District lap swim membership, which is available for $40 for three months. Not a bad deal, methinks.

If you use it a few times a week it is good value:) I hope the exercises work out for you x
