Dept. of Lovely Things

In My Brother's Back Yard

This is what we saw when we looked out the bedroom window this morning.

And from the sublime to the slightly ridiculous; this is at Wolfville's water front park yesterday, showing why the town was first called Mud Creek. But in the background you can see Cape Blomidon, so only slightly ridiculous!

Not ridiculous. Lovely is the word you are looking for.

I think it may be the presence of seagulls. Seagulls always make things a little ridiculous when they're on the ground. They make things glorious when they're on the wing, of course.

But that view of Blomidon? Yeah, lovely.

Pretty deer!

They were wonderful to watch. We watched them pretty much until they wandered out of sight, so for close to an hour, I think.

Ohh, such loveliness!!!

They are, aren't they? I know that when they overbreed, they cause problems for humans, and end up slowly starving themselves, so I support scientifically-designed and merciful culls, but I don't consider them horrible for just trying to live beside us.

Deer! And GREEN! I'm so jealous! Everything is brown and drying up around here. :::cries:::

Seriously, that is just lovely. I sometimes used to see deer out the windows of Mom's house, especially early in the morning or in the evening. A magical sight.

The green here is misleading; the province is under a pretty extensive burn notice, since it's dealing with extreme drought, and there have been forest fires all through our extensive spruce forests.

But the deer make everyone wonderful!

Aw, deer:)

Lovely icon! And they were beautiful, very beautiful!

Thank you, although I don't know the fandom it's from I just liked it!

(I won't wear a Ramones T-Shirt because I only have a best of, so I feel a little guilty of my ignorance)

I don't think you have to feel guilty at all - although I'm blanking on the Ramones reference. Heh.

Lots of people wear band tees just because they like the logo and I'm an ex-indie music snob. Old habits die hard;p

Ah - it now becomes clear to me. Heh.

Aw, it's not so bad - look at the view beyond! (Have I told you lately that I grew up with a river so brown and silty that it's a common fan theory that Terry Pratchett might have based the Ankh on it? Also you could go to the seaside where it came out and see the sea, like 3 miles out... and brown.)

The deer are lovely! I hope your laptop can be fixed, though.

(Funnily enough, I was watching an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? last night - the British series - and randomly, they went to Nova Scotia, so I was thinking of you. Whenever they made it then, though, it was snowing all over the place, so no deer!)

Oh, my goodness, you never told me that. But it makes me feel as if I'd be at home in your neck of the woods. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world, (and therefore, the lowest tides in the world as well, so a lot of looking out to the ever-retreating sea, at least every 12 hours or so.)

It also has a famous Bore. :-)

*snort of appreciation*

Great pictures. There's something rather magical about a flock of deer.

Thanks - I think you've put your finger on what deer can be (at least when they're not eating all the leaves off trees.)
