Dept. of Remembrance

Happy Birthday, Mum

You would have been 91 today, if you'd stayed around, but after all the suffering you dealt with in that last year, I'm glad that you were able to escape..

I don't know where you are. I prefer to believe that you and I will meet again, and I'll find out that you're healthy, that your mind is once again sharp as a tack, and that you are, at long last, sure of yourself, and aware of how amazing you are.

Perhaps, by the time we meet again, you'll have been on amazing adventures in the realms beyond this earth, and you will tell me all about them. You'll have watched all the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies as many times as you want; you'll be hanging with Carolyn and all your friends, and you'll have had lots of time with Nana. You'll have told Granddad that you forgive him, and he will have asked for that forgiveness.

We'll have so much to talk about. But one of the things I'm looking forward to most is sitting beside you, and brushing your hair, like I used to do when I was little.

Happy Birthday, wherever you are. I love you.
