Who, Who, Who, Who

A Surfeit of Awesome
Oh my. It's the pipe, it's the spoon, it's the unbreakable addiction ....
Yes, I 'm sitting here, watching Doctor Who, that wonderful, wonderful 2005 series. Rose and The Unquiet Dead and (right now) Dalek. How wonderful to luxuriate in Rose and Nine. Oh, and I pointed out to BB, during Dalek,  the little security guard in Van Staten's bunker who became Ruthie Lem in "Walk Out With Me."  Told him that's the beauty of fanfic; I always thought the character who gave her life to allow Rose to escape - and who tried to talk sense to the Dalek before doing so - deserved better than she got, and I was able to use her as the template for one of my favorite WOWM characters. Who lived.
(And I suppose the urge to watch was primed by running across The Ruby in the Smoke on PBS Masterpiece Mystery (or whatever they're calling it these days) - totally unexpected Billie Piper. Awesome!! God, I love that woman almost as much as I love Rose! And, for the extra point, I noticed that the pickpocket who stole Sallie Lockhart's book in the train was the actor who played Lance, Donna's skeevy fiance-turned-baby-spider-from-the-beginning-of-time-snack. There really are only 37 actors in Britain - all brilliant, and all destined, at some time or other, to appear on Doctor Who.)

Ok, I went to watch that last night, and the Inspector Lynley Mysteries were on! What the hell?! I saw it last year, but my parents wanted to see it. Isn't Shadow of the North supposed to be on next week? I saw part of it when I was in London, but I'd like to see the rest. If I have to beat up someone at my PBS station, I'm going to be very upset.

And also! I rewatched all of S1 in the past few weeks--both because I had a ton of knitting and cross-stitching to do, and because I was trying to suck in my roommate. I forgot how much I loved it then--having seen Tennant for so long, he's kind of cemented in my brain as the Doctor--but I remembered how after Parting of the Ways I thought I'd never be able to think of anyone but CE as the Doctor. It's such a good show.

And yes--definitely only 37. Every single show has at least one DW actor. Have you seen Five Days? It's a BBC/HBO miniseries with one Harriet Jones, Prime Minister. It's extremely well done, and I'm about 80% sure I spotted a few other people.

What's equally weird is that I turned on PBS hoping to find the Inspector Lynley Mysteries, and instead found Ruby in the Smoke.

We're definitely done with new Inspector Lynley here in NoVA, and next week is the Shadow of the North. I dunno about your PBS.
