Good news, bad news, bad news. Bad. News.

It's Monday, All Right (Or is that Alright?)
And why do I say that? Because there are at least two nasty things extant in my life today.
1) I have the kind of headache that I haven't recently had to endure. One-sided to the extreme, including a bright red ribbon of fire extending up from neck to my ear, and down from my neck to my left shoulder and arm. It's been beaten to a state of sullen inertia by pankillers, but it's still there, sitting on its little bench, glaring at me and running its thumb quite pointedly along the blade of a very sharp and undoubtedly far-too-efficient  knife.  Figuratively speaking, mind ....
2) I was just made aware of this particular piece of news, courtesy the Chicago Trib. The headache got worse.

Don't worry, though; at least one event today makes up a bit for the preceding nasties:
3) It's scarfman 's birthday. Have a happy natal day, and may your coming year be full of artistic fertility and fulfillment!

Thank you.

(Since you asked, I read once that alright isn't proper English.)

I'd read that as well, but with the language constantly in flux and evolution, I would plead before the Grammar Judges for "alright" to be brought into full legality.

Canadian parole boards can be very lenient, especially with 1st time offenders. Unfortunately for Lord Black, but fortunately for those of us who feel he deserves his misfortune, he renounced his Canadian citizenship and therefore he is at the mercy of the American justice system which is not renowned for its treatment of snooty foreigners.

We must all be grateful for small mercies. Sigh.
